My Homework

I just finished a series of photography classes taught by a local photographer I really admire (Veronica Reeve). I learned a lot of great techniques that I will start implementing into my photography. It was a lot of fun! I think every mom out there should find a hobby that just makes you happy, be it scrap booking, music, reading... four wheeling... I don't know!

It's good to have something to learn and enjoy doing that doesn't involve dishes and laundry! Don't get me wrong, being home with my boys is my dream job! All I have ever wanted to be from the time I was a little girl was a mother. I am blessed more than I know to have two beautiful boys, to be home with them every day is a privilege. I love being their mommy! That is the reason I only do a hand full photography jobs a month ... who are we kidding? They are more like "play sessions" than jobs! This way it remains a little side job/hobby/indulgence/passion. Something that I love about photography is that there is always something to learn. Every photographer can get better. There is no such thing as "arriving".It changes the way I see the world, everything becomes a potential still life photograph. and the number one reason why I love photography is that it allows me to make memories both of my children and the children of others. It's really the only way to freeze a moment forever. (The memory sure does have a tendency to fade!)

Here are some of my fun homework assignments from this class. All of these assignments where to be done using all manual settings, and to be posted SOOC (Straight Out of Camera, no post processing i.e. photoshop... that's a toughie!!) I have done my post processing on these, just because I'm O.C.D. In case you are wondering: Yes... I do love my children equally. It's just that the little one sits still for the time being, but it's not going to last much longer!!

Baby Zac Preview

What a little doll!! My kids don't come with much hair, so I'm always amazed to see that babies can have a full head of hair! This little guy is almost 3 months old. As you can see, it looks like he is absolutely adored! Usually I like to keep my previews short, but I just couldn't pick one! There are many more of these to come! For now, enjoy the baby love! Check out the eyes and hair! He's a little charmer.

Baby O some more...

This is what happens when you are adorable and your mom is a photo-crazed fanatic... you get your picture taken way too much. At least their childhoods will be well documented. I have been looking for a wicker bowl such as this one for a few months now. When I finally found it I couldn't wait to put my baby in it and shoot away. I think he rather enjoyed it, too. 7 months old. Taken about a week ago.

Baby O.

BEAUTIFUL. BIG. BLUE. EYES.... Did I mention that he's mine???
I have intended to post these 6 month pictures for over a month now. Aren't those blue eyes to die for? I could just eat him up. Or kiss his face.

{G} Family

7 Adults. 5 Dogs. 1 Lucas... Kids will always be my very favorite part of photography! If this looks cold, it's because it was! We took these in Millcreek Canyon. Yes, the snow was up to our knees! They were such a fun family to be with, and I can honestly say it went better than I imagined it would... I was nervous about shooting with so many dogs, but they were great puppies and it was a lot of fun! The family picked out their own location and lead me to it. I was THRILLED when I saw how gorgeous it was, the snow covered trees, running water, little wood fence and bridge...I mentioned in the preview that they brought their own little props, the sleds... it worked out so perfect! Thanks to the {G} Family! It was so fun to meet you!

{G} Family Sneak Peek-y

Photobucket

Here's just a little preview from a session I did on Saturday! Check out that cool sled! The family brought their own props, two of these old style wood sleds. I was so excited when they brought them out of their car! It was the perfect little prop! More of these to come!
